Master Alan Shen L Cheung

I am an 8th Degree Black Belt in Shorinji-Ryu Jutsu, 7th Degree Black Belt in Universal Kempo Karate System, 5th Degree Black Belt in Chinese American Kenpo Karate, and 3rd Dan in Okinawa Kempo Karate. I started training in the Martial Arts when I was 12 years old in New York City Chinatown. The system I studied was the Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu. I was told by my uncle this was the system my ancestors have studied for several hundred years. I got one summer of Praying Mantis training before my Sifu went back to London.

I started my official Karate training with Mr. Dennis Nackord and Mr. Joe Breidenstein at the American Karate Studios in Ardmore, PA. Mr. Nackord now runs the Nackord Kenpo Karate System in King of Prussia, PA. I got my first black belt in American Kenpo from Mr. Charles (Fran) Farrell - American Karate Broomall, PA. Mr. Farrell is now teaching Tai Chi in Ocean City, NJ and he is the head instructor of American Eagle Tai Chi System.  American Karate Broomall is currently owned and operated by two of my best students of the past Marc and Nancy Shay.

I have further my Kenpo training with Mr. Joe Breidenstein - American Karate Studios Ardmore, Mr. Dennis Tosten -  American Karate Studios NE Philadelphia (now AmeriKick  Philadelphia and NJ), and Mr. Tom Updegrove - Martial Posture Center City Philadelphia. I later trained in Hung Gar Gung Fu, Tae Kwon Do & Hop Ki Do, Shotokan Karate and Okinawa Kempo Karate to incorporate my Kenpo knowledge.  I am currently training under Dr. Ken Balliet 10th Dan in Shorinji-Ryu Jutsu.
